Our Story
After discovering embroidery and obtaining his first sewing machine, Marquis began an intensive period of self-directed study that continues to this day. For nine years and counting, he has immersed himself in the study of fashion through every avenue available to him—YouTube, libraries, experimentation, conversations with other designers, observation, failure, reconstruction, and countless hours spent simply trying to understand how things work. There was no traditional fashion-school pipeline defining what MarquisAli was supposed to become. There was curiosity, and there was work. That curiosity eventually became a discipline, and that discipline became the foundation of the House.
Driven by passion
But the learning never stopped. Each collection, each garment, each new material, and each encounter with the world presents another opportunity to discover something that can be translated into the language of clothing. MarquisAli continues to evolve because the world it studies never stops changing. What began as an interest in creating custom T-shirts became an education in embroidery, which became an education in sewing, which became an education in tailoring, design, styling, art, science, culture, and ultimately the human being wearing the garment.
The love for knowledge.
Nine years into that journey, MarquisAli does not present itself as a company that has finished learning. It presents itself as a House that is still discovering. Every new technique creates another question. Every new material creates another possibility. Every person who enters the House brings another story to understand. The work continues because discovery itself has become part of the company's identity
